FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Wednesday condemned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s remarks backing Iran’s right to defend itself against Israel’s military campaign.
Speaking in parliament, Erdogan accused Israel of “banditry and state terrorism” and likened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler.
Sa’ar responded sharply, calling Erdogan an “imperialist” and criticizing Türkiye’s “illegal occupation” of northern Cyprus.
“The Sultan, in his own eyes, continues to incite against Israel and its prime minister with yet another inflammatory speech,” Sa’ar wrote on social media platform X.
The exchange comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, with ongoing military strikes and regional instability.
