Israel has postponed the release of Palestinian prisoners until the release of the next hostages can be assured without “degrading ceremonies,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced early Sunday night.
The statement from Netanyahu’s office said, “It has been decided to postpone the release of terrorists, which was due to take place yesterday (Saturday), until the release of the next hostages can be guaranteed without the humiliating ceremonies.”
Netanyahu is calling for an end to what he describes as “degrading ceremonies” surrounding hostage releases.
The decision comes amid continuing tensions and accusations between Israel and Hamas over the treatment and use of hostages for propaganda purposes.
