Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will begin negotiations on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement in the United States in Washington on Monday, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
The office said Netanyahu spoke with US special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, on Saturday evening . The two agreed that negotiations on the second phase of the deal would begin when they meet in Washington on Monday, the statement said.
US President Donald Trump has invited Netanyahu to visit the White House next Tuesday.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the extremist organization Hamas was signed at the beginning of the year and came into effect on January 19. The first phase of the ceasefire will last 42 days.
