Large Number of Scam Call Reports Received, Police Warn

Cyprus police said they have received a large number of reports from citizens about attempted phone scams carried out by callers posing as representatives of financial‑transaction platforms or other organizations.

According to the reports, the callers use Cypriot or foreign phone numbers and an automated voice system instructing people to press specific keys to “confirm” or “approve” supposed transactions or payments linked to their accounts.

Police urged the public to be cautious, stressing that the calls are fraudulent.

Citizens who are genuinely expecting online transactions to be processed are advised to verify any calls or messages through the official communication channels of the relevant organizations before completing any payment or approval.
