FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Two minors were formally charged Friday in connection with an ongoing drug possession investigation, police said.

Officers from Larnaca’s Bicycle Patrol Unit stopped a vehicle for inspection on Athens Avenue. The car was being driven by a 17-year-old who had no license or insurance and was accompanied by two 16-year-old passengers.

A search of the vehicle revealed five plastic bags containing approximately five grams of cannabis.

The 17-year-old and one of the 16-year-olds admitted possession and were arrested on the spot. All three were taken to the Drug Law Enforcement Unit, where two were charged in writing and will later be summoned to court.

Police also confirmed that the 17-year-old driver tested positive in a preliminary narcotics screening.
