French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that some 20 billion euros (22.49 billion U.S. dollars) in new investments were confirmed during the eighth Choose France International Business Summit, held at the Palace of Versailles.

Speaking at the event, Macron said the newly confirmed investments are focused on sectors including artificial intelligence (AI), defense, new energy and telecommunications.

He said that another 20 billion euros had been pledged during the Paris AI Summit in February.

“This is a very complete edition where 20 billion were announced, and 20 billion of AI investments as a follow-up to the summit in February,” Macron said in English, addressing international and French business leaders.

Macron noted that over the past eight years, France has worked to reduce the cost of capital and labor in an effort to enhance its appeal to foreign investors.

According to a recent summary of EY’s 2025 Report on International Investments in France, the country remained the top destination for foreign investment in Europe for the sixth consecutive year. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollar) ■
