This March and April ranked among the strongest months for water inflow into Cyprus’ dams in nearly four decades, the Water Development Department has said.
According to department data dating back to 1987, this March recorded the highest inflow ever for that month, while this April was the second‑best in 38 years.
Dam storage now stands at 38.8% capacity, compared with 23.2% during the same period last year.
The department warned, however, that the improved levels should not lead to complacency. Despite the better inflow, officials said stored water remains insufficient to meet all drinking‑water and irrigation needs in the coming years.
