Average rainfall for May has already been exceeded in the first half of the month, with several areas recording more than triple their usual levels.
Rainfall so far stands at 163 percent of the monthly norm. Paphos Airport reported the highest total, reaching 385 percent of its average. The new Limassol port recorded 357 percent, Polis 356 percent and Stavros tis Psokas 340 percent.
Since October 1, cumulative rainfall in government‑controlled areas has reached 555 millimeters, compared with a seasonal average of 453.2 millimeters.
In a separate announcement, the Agriculture Ministry said it has launched a new website providing information on Cyprus’ water resources, drought conditions, climate‑related pressures and ongoing planning and infrastructure projects.
