On Tuesday, the Associated Press news agency was denied access to the Oval Office to cover Donald Trump’s signing of a presidential order.
Also on Wednesday, they were denied access to the president’s office, this time to cover the ceremony where the newly appointed intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard was sworn in.
The reason is that the news agency still refers to the Gulf of Mexico by its old name, even though Trump recently renamed the gulf the Gulf of America.
Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt says, according to AFP, that they have the right to decide who is allowed into the Oval Office.
“It is a fact that the water off the coast of Louisiana is called the Gulf of America. And I don’t know why the news media wouldn’t call it that,” she adds.
