FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Authorities in north Nicosia have initiated a large-scale pesticide spraying campaign in the Metehan and Kermiya regions to combat cockroach infestations.
The operation will cover all households and workplaces within the municipality’s borders, as well as 50,000 manholes across 16 districts.
According to a statement, the spraying will be conducted twice throughout 2025.
Manholes, identified as major breeding grounds for cockroaches, are a key focus of the campaign to control pest populations effectively.
In addition to cockroach control, teams are identifying and recording mosquito breeding areas as part of their systematic pest management efforts.
The initiative aims to reduce health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic illnesses, while ensuring food safety and environmental cleanliness.
