FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A three-year-old Palestinian boy, Amjad Hazem Abed, was killed in an Israeli drone strike in Gaza City, according to Palestinian media reports.
The attack occurred in the al-Mintar area in eastern Gaza City.
The target of the attack remains unknown, and the Israeli army has not commented on the incident.
Elsewhere, Israel carried out a drone attack in the central Gaza Strip on Thursday, targeting militants who attempted to plant explosive devices, the Israeli military said in a statement.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Israel has intensified airstrikes in Gaza over the past week amid uncertainty over the durability of a phased ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The first phase of the truce deal expired on March 1, and negotiations on the second phase remain stalled.
The Gaza-based health authorities updated in a statement on Thursday that the death toll in Gaza since the start of the war on Oct. 7, 2023, has risen to 48,524, while the number of injured has reached 111,955.
