Police have carried out a new large-scale operation to identify third-country nationals residing illegally in Cyprus.
During the operation on Sunday, 58 people of various nationalities were detained.
According to the police press office, police have already proceeded with the repatriation of 20 of the 58 persons, while they are pushing ahead with the procedures for the immediate repatriation of the other 38 persons.
The operation was carried out in the Limassol district, with the participation of members of the Aliens and Immigration Service – YAM, as well as members of the Green Line Surveillance and Countermeasures of Migrant Flows Sub-Directorate.
It began at 5.00 in the morning and concluded around 12.00 noon on Sunday.
