FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Authorities have uncovered a substantial cache of nitrous oxide—commonly referred to as laughing gas—in a warehouse in Limassol.
According to reports, a joint operation between the Narcotics Branch of the police and a unit within the Customs Department led to the discovery of 129,600 ampoules concealed within a shipping container.
The haul, with a combined weight exceeding 3.8 metric tonnes, represents one of the largest seizures of its kind on the island.
The ampoules were reportedly linked to a commercial entity, though officials have not released the company’s name as investigations continue.
Nitrous oxide, typically used in medical and industrial applications, has increasingly drawn scrutiny for its misuse as a recreational drug.
