Police have warned the public about a rise in reports of attempted phone scams, reminding citizens that neither the force nor any legitimate organization ever asks for personal or banking information over the phone.
According to recent complaints, scammers are posing as representatives of the “European Economic Police” and contacting unsuspecting individuals to request bank account details or information from electronic wallets in an effort to steal money.
Police stressed that they never call citizens to request financial data, personal information or any other sensitive details.
