Health Minister Neofytos Charalambides has called the day “very important” after Parliament approved bills establishing the National Ambulance Authority and the National Cancer Institute.

Charalambides highlighted the decision to create the National Center for Clinical Documentation, describing it as the second‑largest health reform after the General Health System (GeSY).

He said the center will ensure the quality and oversight of medical services.

The minister also stressed the urgent need to fill 600 nursing positions.

To address the shortage, he said the government is promoting measures that include allowances and incentives for nursing students, increasing the availability of support staff, and tightly regulated recruitment of nurses from third countries.
