Russia’s ambassador to Norway, Nikolay Korchunov, sharply criticized Norway’s decision to blacklist two Russian fishing companies, calling the move “absurd” and “politically motivated.”
The companies, Norebo JSC and Murman Seafood, were sanctioned in alignment with European Union measures adopted on May 20, NRK reports.
Under the sanctions, both firms will lose access to Norwegian ports and territorial waters. The Norwegian government cited national security concerns, alleging the companies were involved in intelligence activities targeting critical infrastructure.
Norway’s foreign ministry has defended the move as part of its broader commitment to EU sanctions and efforts to counter hybrid threats.
