FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, now 70, qualifies for reduced restrictions in his sentence under French law, prosecutors say.
Sarkozy was convicted of corruption and sentenced to three years, with two years suspended and one under house arrest.
Since February, he has served his term with an ankle monitor, which he is now allowed to remove. He remains subject to travel restrictions, requiring approval for foreign trips or domestic stays exceeding two weeks. He must also attend court-supervised meetings.
Sarkozy denied wrongdoing.
