FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Turkey’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Monday condemning Israel’s expanded ground offensive in Gaza, calling for an immediate cease-fire and humanitarian access.
The statement criticized Israel’s actions during ongoing negotiations, saying the military escalation undermines stability efforts.
“Israel’s decision to widen attacks in Gaza once again demonstrates a lack of intent for lasting peace,” the ministry said. It urged an end to operations across Gaza, the opening of humanitarian corridors, and the swift implementation of a cease-fire.
The ministry also called on the international community to take decisive action, emphasizing the importance of concrete steps to ensure regional security.
Nations were urged to uphold their legal and humanitarian obligations.
Israel’s military announced earlier this month that it had begun expanding its ground operations in Gaza, following the approval of a new offensive plan by its security cabinet on May 4.
