FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Turkish prosecutors have leveled fresh charges against Swedish journalist Joakim Medin, accusing him of spreading terrorist propaganda, according to Swedish newspaper Journalisten.
If convicted, Medin could face up to 27 years in prison.
Medin was detained at Istanbul airport earlier this spring. He had previously been accused of insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and alleged ties to a terrorist organization.
The charges have sparked widespread concern about press freedom and the treatment of journalists in Turkey. ■
