Cyprus is in the grip of a heatwave, with temperatures climbing to 38°C on Thursday as mostly clear skies persist across the island.
The unseasonably warm weather is expected to continue through the weekend.
According to the Meteorological Service, Friday will see a slight rise in temperature, while Saturday will bring little variation.
Forecast Overview: Today, skies will remain mostly clear. Winds will shift from light and variable in the morning (around 3 Beaufort) to southwesterly to northwesterly, reaching 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally strengthening to 4 or 5 Beaufort along windward coasts in the afternoon. Seas will be generally calm to slightly choppy. Temperatures will reach around 38°C inland, 34°C along the southern and eastern coasts, 32°C in the west, and 28°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, mostly clear skies will persist. Towards dawn, light local mist or low cloud may form. Winds will turn northwesterly to northeasterly, and southeasterly along northern coasts, remaining light at 3 Beaufort. Seas will remain calm to slightly choppy. Overnight lows will dip to 24°C inland and on the eastern and southeastern coasts, 22°C in the west, southwest, and north, and 17°C in the mountains.
Outlook for Friday through Sunday: The fair weather continues, though scattered clouds may develop at times. Light mist or low clouds are possible in the early mornings.
Temperatures will remain above seasonal averages — slightly rising on Friday, holding steady on Saturday, then dipping slightly on Sunday.
