FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Turkish authorities announced Wednesday that 175,512 Syrians have voluntarily returned to their country since December 9, 2024, bringing the total number of returnees since 2017 to 915,515.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya emphasized that the process is conducted in a voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly manner, with oversight from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Türkiye has implemented measures to facilitate authorized exit and re-entry, deploying migration representatives in Syria to support returnees.
Millions of Syrians fled their homeland following the outbreak of civil war in 2011, with Türkiye hosting more than 3.6 million refugees at the peak of the crisis.
