Police arrested three people on Monday following coordinated raids on homes and other properties in Nicosia as part of investigations into drug possession, illegal firearms, money laundering and related offenses.
Authorities said the operation was carried out under court warrants and involved multiple police units. Officers seized several firearms, quantities of drugs and cash.
At the home of a 36‑year‑old man, police found two hunting‑type firearms, a double‑barrel shotgun, an air gun, 27 cartridges, 3.8 grams of cannabis, €2,260 in cash and a mobile phone. At a separate residence belonging to a 30‑year‑old man, officers located 40 grams of cocaine, 45 grams of cannabis, €1,025 in cash, two precision scales with traces of white powder and a mobile phone.
Both men were arrested on the spot for drug and firearms offenses and remain in custody.
A third suspect, a 24‑year‑old man, was arrested under a court warrant in connection with an alleged fraud case involving the obtaining of money under false pretenses. He later appeared before the Nicosia District Court, which ordered him held for two days.
The operation began at 5 a.m. and concluded around 10:30 a.m. The Nicosia CID, the drug squad, the financial crime unit and the rapid‑response unit took part. Investigations are ongoing.
