Traffic Accidents Decline in Cyprus, Fatalities and Injuries Down Since 2021

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Traffic accidents resulting in fatalities and serious injuries decreased in Cyprus between 2021 and 2024, according to a report by Phileleftheros newspaper.

The paper detailed that 2021 saw 48 deaths and 477 injuries in 506 traffic accidents.

In 2022, there were 35 deaths and 505 injuries in 555 accidents. The downward trend continued in 2023, with 32 deaths and 468 injuries in 506 accidents.

Although there was a slight uptick in both accidents and fatalities in 2024, the figures remained lower than those recorded in 2021.

That year, 477 accidents resulted in 41 fatalities and 441 injuries.

The data highlights a general improvement in traffic safety over the observed period.
