FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – — Cyprus ranks second in the European Union for the share of workers who log more than 49 hours per week in their main job, according to Eurostat.
Ten percent of employed Cypriots between the ages of 20 and 64 work extended hours, trailing only Greece, which leads the bloc with 12.4 percent.
France follows in third place with 9.9 percent.
The figures reflect a broader trend in southern Europe, where long workweeks remain more common than in other parts of the EU.
