FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – President Donald Trump claimed that a deal to create an American-owned version of TikTok was nearly finalized but fell apart due to increased tariffs on Chinese goods.
Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump stated, “If I had given a small cut in tariffs, they would have accepted the deal in fifteen minutes, which shows the power of tariffs.”
The proposed deal aimed to establish TikTok’s U.S. operations under majority American ownership.
However, on Saturday, it was announced that negotiations had failed, leaving the future of the popular video-sharing app uncertain amidst ongoing trade tensions.
