US President Donald Trump’s proposed 25 percent import tariffs on the European Union could severely impact Finland’s second-largest export sector, the chemical industry.
The Finnish Chemical Industry Association estimates that the tariffs could cut exports to the United States by more than 300 million euros annually.
In a recent member survey conducted by the association, over 80 percent of companies indicated that the tariffs would reduce exports to the United States.
As reported by YLE, the survey, conducted at the end of February, received responses from 79 CEOs of member companies.
The potential tariffs have raised concerns among Finnish leaders, who emphasize the importance of maintaining strong trade relations with the United States and avoiding a trade war.
