Turkish security forces detained 161 suspected Islamic State members in week‑long nationwide raids, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said Friday.
The suspects were believed to have been active in the group and provided financial support, Yerlikaya said. Police seized unlicensed weapons, organizational documents and digital materials, with all suspects held for questioning and legal proceedings.
Yerlikaya also said on social media that 233 suspects were detained in sweeping counterterrorism raids across more than 30 provinces over the past two weeks.
Türkiye designated IS a terrorist organization in 2013 and has blamed it for a series of deadly attacks. Since then, authorities have carried out operations at home and abroad to crack down on IS members and activities.
