Turkish Cypriot Man Still Intubated After Ayia Napa Assault

A 47‑year‑old Turkish Cypriot man remains intubated at Nicosia General Hospital after he was found injured Sunday morning on a road in Ayia Napa.

Police said initial testimony indicated he was attacked by a group of unknown individuals. Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman said he has asked the bicommunal committee for updates on the case.

Police later said additional witness statements suggest the man was assaulted by a group of foreign nationals, likely of Asian origin, in an effort to avoid any misunderstanding about the circumstances.
