The Turkish Red Crescent is ramping up its first aid education efforts across 22 cities, operating 29 First Aid Training Centers under the umbrella of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Its 16-hour training program meets international standards and earned Global First Aid Accreditation last year.
In the first eight months of 2025, the organization reached 69,000 people through its certified courses.
This year’s curriculum includes a new theme: “First Aid and Climate Change,” aligning with the IFRC’s global campaign for World First Aid Day, observed annually on the second Saturday of September.
Instructors are now integrating climate awareness into their sessions, highlighting how environmental changes can increase health risks and emergencies. The initiative aims to equip more individuals with life-saving skills while fostering resilience in the face of climate-related challenges.
Ali Seyhan, director of the Adana branch’s training center, emphasized the importance of accessible first aid knowledge and noted that the annual theme helps tailor education to emerging global concerns.
