Police in Larnaca are investigating two separate incidents in which minors were injured by firecrackers on Saturday, authorities said. A 14‑year‑old and a 17‑year‑old were treated at Larnaca General Hospital and later discharged.
The first case occurred around 9:40 a.m., when a 14‑year‑old arrived at the hospital with a superficial injury to a finger on his right hand and an eye injury. The circumstances of the incident are being examined by the Larnaca Minor Offences Department.
The second incident happened around noon in the courtyard of a church in the Larnaca district. According to initial findings, a 17‑year‑old attempted to ignite used factory‑made firecrackers that had failed to explode and were lying on the ground.
