FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Ukraine became the world’s largest arms importer during the period 2020–2024, according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
It was the only European country among the top ten arms importers, despite a significant increase in arms imports by other European nations.
The SIPRI report highlights that these figures reflect the rearmament of European states in response to the perceived threat from Russia.
Globally, the total volume of arms trade has remained steady since the 2010s, with regional shifts in import and export patterns.
