The Norwegian UN envoy to Syria, Geir O. Pedersen, is calling on the new authorities in the country to ensure that free and fair elections are held.
He met with the press in Damascus on Wednesday, AFP reports.
He also emphasized that Syria is in need of humanitarian aid after 14 years of civil war.
