An Italian anarchist who was convicted of a bombing in Florence in 2017 and has been on the run for two years has been arrested in Spain.
38-year-old Salvatore Vespertino was arrested by police in Madrid early Saturday after being on the run since July 2023.
Vespertino was sentenced to eight years in prison for a bomb attack in which a police officer was seriously injured on New Year’s Eve 2017.
The policeman was in the process of defuse the bomb outside a bookstore in Florence when it exploded. The bookstore belonged to the neo-fascist group Casapound.
