Water inflows at dams in the districts of Paphos, Larnaca and Famagusta remain well below last year’s levels despite several days of increased rainfall.

In Paphos, overall dam capacity stands at 23%, according to the local Water Development Department.

Two small dams — Pomos and Argaka — have overflowed, but officials noted they primarily serve irrigation needs and, while important for local agriculture, do not significantly affect the district’s overall storage levels.

Conditions are described as “critical” in Larnaca and Famagusta, where major reservoirs remain severely depleted.

The Kalo Chorio–Kalavasos dam is at 8% capacity, compared with 27.6% a year ago.

The Lefkara dam stands at 10.8%, down from 29.5%, while the Achna dam has dropped to just 2.1%, compared with 20.8% last year.

The situation is slightly better at the Dipotamos dam, now at 25% capacity, though still well below the 35.7% recorded during the same period in 2023.
