Cyprus’ Forest Department was placed on alert Friday night after four wildfires broke out in the communities of Drouseia and Lythrodontas, authorities said.
According to an official statement, the fires in the Paphos district ignited around 7 p.m. along the road connecting Drouseia to Prodromi.
The blazes were located close to one another and were brought under full control within an hour, burning approximately 4,000 square meters of wild vegetation.
Eleven firefighters from the Forest Department and Fire Service responded with four vehicles.
In a separate incident, a fire in Lythrodontas destroyed an abandoned structure. Ten Forest Department personnel with three vehicles were dispatched to extinguish the blaze.
