A cold air mass is expected to linger over the region through Monday, bringing clear skies mixed with periods of cloud and a chance of isolated showers.

Forecasters say Sunday will be mostly sunny, though clouds may thicken at times, with brief showers possible in southern and eastern areas. Light snow or sleet may fall over the highest mountain peaks. Winds will blow from the northwest to northeast at light to moderate levels, and seas will be slightly rough. Highs are forecast to reach 16°C inland, 18°C along the coast and 5°C in the mountains.

Conditions will remain mostly clear overnight, with pockets of increased cloud cover. Winds will stay light to moderate, and temperatures will fall to 4°C inland, 6°C on the coasts and -1°C in the higher mountains, where frost is expected.

Monday and Tuesday will bring mainly clear weather with occasional cloud. By Wednesday, skies will turn partly cloudy, and isolated afternoon showers are possible.

Temperatures will gradually rise through Tuesday and hold steady on Wednesday, remaining slightly above seasonal norms.
