A gas explosion in a coal mine in southwestern Pakistan has trapped at least 12 miners, local authorities say.
The explosion occurred on Thursday evening local time in Balochistan province, said mining inspector Abdul Ghani.
Spokesman Shahid Rind says on behalf of local authorities in Balochistan that they have deployed all possible resources to save the workers.
Hundreds of miners lose their lives in Pakistan every year as a result of dangerous working conditions and poor safety measures.
