The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in Cyprus rose by 0.4% between May 2024 and May 2025, according to the latest report from the Statistical Service.
Compared to April 2025, the index increased by 0.2%, with notable changes observed in transport (-4.4%) and clothing and footwear (2.6%).
Over the past year, the largest price increases were recorded in recreation and culture (7.7%) and restaurants and hotels (5.2%), while transport (-6.5%) saw the biggest decline.
For the period January-May 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, recreation and culture rose by 7.3%, restaurants and hotels by 5.3%, while clothing and footwear declined by 5.6%.
The most significant economic category change was in energy, which dropped by 11.4% compared to May 2024 and 1.7% compared to April 2025.
