Three unidentified projectiles landed near Mezzeh Military Airport west of the Syrian capital Tuesday evening, state media reported.
The state-run SANA news agency said there were no casualties or material damage.
A source told the outlet that specialized security units had been deployed to the area and opened an investigation to determine the origin of the projectiles.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said explosions were heard after shells fell near the airport, though it reported no immediate confirmation of casualties or the nature of the attack.
Authorities cordoned off the area as investigations continued. No group has claimed responsibility for the shelling.
