Police in Cyprus carried out a series of intensified overnight crime‑prevention operations across urban areas, arresting six people on suspicion of various criminal and other offenses, authorities said last night.
The arrests were made during targeted patrols aimed at preventing serious crime, protecting the public and maintaining order. Police said the cases involved offenses including illegal residence in the Republic, unlawful possession of property, failure to appear in court and assaulting an officer.
As part of traffic‑related investigations, six vehicles were also seized.
During the same night, officers conducted checks at 34 premises as part of efforts to deter and suppress unlawful activity. More than 350 traffic inspections were carried out, resulting in over 110 citations, including 33 for speeding. Two drivers were found to be under the influence of drugs.
Police said the operations form part of a wider, ongoing prevention plan involving increased patrols, targeted checks and rapid operational response across all districts to strengthen public safety.
