Drug‑related offences have increased across north Cyprus over the past two years, according to new figures from the ‘Police General Directorate,’ which also reports stepped‑up enforcement operations.
Police recorded 778 drug cases in 2024–2025, and legal proceedings were initiated against 1,168 suspects. Case numbers rose from 340 in 2024 to 438 in 2025, while the number of suspects increased from 508 to 660.
Officers seized a total of 140.4 kilograms of narcotics during the two‑year period, including 118.3 kilograms of cannabis. Authorities also confiscated 17,210 drug‑containing pills.
Statistics compiled from PGM data show increases both in the number of cases and in the number of suspects, as well as a notable rise in the total quantity of drugs seized.
