Police in Limassol are investigating a case in which a 70‑year‑old man was allegedly defrauded of €58,400 in a bogus property sale, authorities have confirmed.
According to the complaint filed with Limassol CID, the victim paid the money to a 50‑year‑old man between June 2023 and Jan. 24, 2026, believing he was purchasing a house in the Limassol district.
Police said the suspect failed to transfer ownership of the property, which was later found to belong to someone else and was not for sale.
A court warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest.
He was located in Nicosia on Wednesday and taken into custody. On Thursday morning he appeared before the Limassol District Court, which ordered him held for five days as the investigation continues.
