Police carried out targeted overnight operations across Cyprus, arresting 12 people for offences including theft, drug possession, possession of offensive weapons, domestic violence and illegal stay, authorities said Tuesday.
As part of the checks, officers stopped 953 vehicles and examined 1,276 occupants. They also inspected 24 premises, issuing three citations.
Traffic enforcement produced 650 violations, including 141 for speeding. Two drivers tested positive for drugs in preliminary checks and one tested positive for alcohol. Police also opened 22 new traffic‑related investigations and impounded 20 vehicles.
The operations, police said, are part of ongoing efforts to prevent crime and maintain public order.
