The Avakas Gorge trail in the Akamas National Forest Park will remain closed until further notice because of hazardous conditions, the Forestry Department has said.
The department cited recent weather, increased water flow, slippery ground and the risk of falling rocks and soil as reasons for keeping the popular trail shut.
The reminder follows an incident on March 25 in which hikers became trapped in the gorge.
Authorities first closed the site on December 6, 2025, and placed warning signs at the entrance. The department said the trail will reopen only when it is deemed completely safe for visitors.
It apologised for the inconvenience but said the closure is necessary for public safety.
