Police carried out targeted preventive operations across Cyprus overnight, conducting patrols in key urban areas to deter serious crime, maintain public order and strengthen the sense of security.
Two people were arrested during the checks. In Paphos, one person was detained after being found driving without a valid license and with outstanding fine warrants. In Famagusta district, another person was arrested for illegal stay in the Republic.
Police stopped 625 vehicles and checked a total of 766 drivers and passengers. Officers issued 93 traffic citations, including 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol and two for driving under the influence of drugs.
Authorities also conducted 41 inspections at various premises and impounded seven vehicles as part of the ongoing operations.
Police said coordinated enforcement efforts to prevent and combat crime will continue daily with increased patrols, targeted checks and immediate operational response.
