The Cyprus Consumers Protection Association says prices for 250 basic food items rose in May.
Citing the group’s findings, the newspaper Haravgi reported that the sharpest increases were in processed meats such as sausages and ham, which climbed an average of 6.4%.
Frozen foods and fish rose 6.3%, while liquid oils were up 5.1%, canned meat 5.4%, coffee 5.8%, baby formula 5.1%, eggs 5% and flour 4.9%. Vegetable prices, however, declined.
