FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A Norwegian-Ukrainian couple was sentenced to prison for operating a pimping network that exploited at least 150 women.
According to the verdict, the network primarily targeted women from Eastern Europe, smuggling them into Norway during the coronavirus pandemic.
The operation used an apartment building as a brothel for approximately two years, authorities said.
The main perpetrator, a woman in her 50s of Ukrainian origin, was sentenced to six years in prison.
Her Norwegian husband, in his 40s, received a four-year sentence.
Six additional individuals were charged in the case.
Two Norwegian men were accused of subletting the building used for exploitation. One of the men was acquitted, while a woman of Ukrainian origin failed to appear in court. The remaining defendants were convicted.
