FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – AKEL Secretary General Stefanos Stefanou has raised concerns about income inequality in Cyprus, highlighting that one in five workers earns less than €1,500.

Speaking at an AKEL event on workers’ rights, Stefanou emphasized that economic development should translate into improved living conditions for workers.

“Where is development headed when one in five workers is on a low income and more than 40% earn less than €1,500?” Stefanou asked, criticizing the Christodoulides government for “giving the impression of prosperity that is not reflected in the daily realities of workers.”
