The Cypriot Cabinet has approved a new initiative aimed at expanding the use of electric and hybrid vehicles through state funding.
Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis announced the plan following a Cabinet meeting, stating that it will offer grants and incentives for the purchase of both new and used electric and hybrid vehicles.
Before the new plan rolls out, officials will reallocate unclaimed grants from the third phase of Cyprus’ existing e-mobility program. A total of 97 grants for vehicles and 18 for motorcycles will be made available due to canceled applications or those not linked to a purchase order.
Vafeadis added that once these remaining grants are claimed, the new scheme will officially launch.
The upcoming program will be backed by €2.5 million from the national budget.
