FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – At least seven people died Thursday when a boat carrying refugees and migrants sank off the northern coast of the Greek island of Lesbos.
The vessel capsized under unclear circumstances early Thursday morning.
Twenty-three people have been rescued so far, but the total number of passengers remains unknown.
A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway on land and at sea, involving three Greek coast guard patrol vessels, a passing ship, three vehicles, and a helicopter, according to public broadcaster ERT.
